Hi,

I'm having some trouble calling UK numbers over a PRI (incoming & outgoing goes over group 0) and I would like to use the number 8 before dialing the UK phone number. Calling US numbers from the Caribbean works fine, but I cannot dial the UK.

This is an example of one of the UK numbers: 011-448-443-351-801.

Based on that information, can someone let me know what my short code would look like to make this work please? Currently I'm getting "Cause Code = 21" call rejected after dialing the full number, all help appreciated.

Have you tried other European countries to see if they work.

Uk international code is 0044

I think the dialed number is bullocks.

In UK all numbers are 10 or 11 digits, and start with a 0.

I think the correct number in UK should be 08-443-351-801.

Then the country code is 44, meaning you have to send 00448443351801 to the PRI.

So you need shortcode

80N
dial
0044N
0

Then when you dial 808443351801 the shortcode will translate it to 00448443351801

08XXX area codes in the UK are non geographic numbers so I'm not sure if they work from outside the UK.

Looks like that number is for Heathrow Airport.

This is a good site for finding the DDI that sits behind the NGN so you can call from abroad.

To call the 020 8745 7730 number remove the leading 0 and add 0044 to the front 00442087457730

Just to clarify, 0044 is not the UK international code. The actual code is 44, the 00 is the UK international dialling prefix and will only work in places that use the same prefix. The correct format should be +44 where + = the international access prefix for the country you are calling from.

In the Caribbean, I think it's 011, so the UK dialling code would be 01144. The Heathrow number would therefore be 011442087457730.

And the short code would be:

80N
dial
01144N
0

IPOHead is right on this one. UK Non Geo's starting 0844 like the example provided are not guaranteed to work when called from other countries. As such the businesses will have an International number which would be advertised, like on their website.

Eksters' shortcode is how it would be programmed in your ARS.

That’s true as I only ever dial the uk from Europe .🙇🏻‍♂️

Don’t normally ring from outside of that…

At least now you have people how know what they are talking about.🤣🤣

Hi all,

Appreciate all the replies so far. I tried what Ekstar suggested, but I'm still not getting through. Just an fyi, I was able to reach that UK number from another local phone in the Bahamas by dialing 901144 plus the other digits so 01144 seems to be correct, but no combination of shortcode has ended well for me. I ran it by my service provider and they said their side looks clean so I guess it's not them. Is there anything else I can check for?

Can you show us which shortcodes you have tried?

I suggest you run a monitor trace on the ISDN top see what is actually being sent to line
you should then be able to work out what the error in your short code is.

you are almost certainly stripping or inserting digits in error - check the operation of the 'N' & '.' characters in your dialled number field.
also posing the short code you have tried would be useful for people trying to help!

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear
