I thought I had already posted this. Don't see it anywhere here, nor under 'My Threads',so I'll give it another shot.

We are running a 200CX at our US and CAN offices, both networked together.

Periodically when our US office calls the UK they will get a busy signal although th lines are not physically busy in the office, or busy signal when calls are forwarded calls to an answering service. It may take 7-8 tries to get through.

Our CAN office has not reported any of these problems.

I doublt this is a PBX issue, but I wanted to make sure. Is it possible it could be a carrier issue with the US office? Has anyone experienced this before? Apparently when calling within the UK to the UK location there's no problems, and as I said the CAN office has not experienced any isues, so I don't think it would be an issue at the UK location. MAybe it's a Commonwealth of Nations thing? ;)

Thanks

Do you make calls to UK using land lines or IP? If it is land lines, is it PRI or LS/GS (analog). If analog did you try to use direct trunk access and dial straight from the line?

You mean bypass the PBX system , and plug a phone right into the analog line.

No, the problme appears to be periodic, not persistent.

If there is an issue on the PBX side, would it be persistent? Can it be intermittent?

Thanks for the reply

If you are using analog trunks there might be an issue with 1 in particular and the system is failing when that trunk is seized.

With PRI this is less likely but still possible.

IP is another cup of worms altogether.

Analog and PRI trunks can be direct selected by using the Feature Access code for Direct Trunk Access. This bypasses ARS and eliminates issues that might be caused by ARS.

I notice that you did not answer 1 of Slapin's questions. It is difficult for us to help you if you won't help us to understand the environment.

Sorry about that.

We use 6 LS lines for the external calls. No, I didn't use the direct trunk access.

If it is one of our 6 analog lines in the group, would the issue not rear it's head on other calls as well? Seems to only exsist periodically with the UK calls.

Thanks. If I missed some info, then please feel free to let me know.

Try to use direct trunk access first.
You will need to check SMDR as well. It may help you to determine if it is the problem with any specific line or not.

I suspect that you have an international calling block on one of the lines.

It could still be an issue with a particular trunk or ARS.

Test each trunk by direct select and dialing a number that is known to fail.

to Direct select:

DIAL Feature Access Code
Dial Trunk Number - 4 digits required trunk 1 is 0001
Dial UK number

If all trunks are successful the issue is most likely with ARS
