Hi,
I preformed a backup with the following command.

ufsdump 0cuf /dev/rmt/0 /apps

The backup looks like it has been successfull from the output generated but I would like to check the tape to make sure. Is there any command that would enable me to do this without restoring it back onto the system ?

Besides;
#cat /etc/dumpdates
/dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s3 0 Mon Jul 23 10:55:23 2001

Cheers,

I use ufsrestore ivfs /dev/rmt/0 to check tapes. It should bring up a little utility to show what's on the tape without actually restoring it.

Greg.

The I''s interactive mode, what do the vf and s stand for, verbose....??? Cheers,

on Solaris 8 "f" is to use a dump file instead of /dev/rmt/0 as the file to restore from, "v" for verbose,
"s" to skip n blocks (ufsrestore xfs /dev/rmt/0hn n).

from ufsrestore man page.

Regards,

Carlos Almeida,
