I have a UCD group setup with 4 extensions. I wanted to add a new extensio to it. What I did is find an availalbe extension and then copy one of the existing extensions in the UCD group. After doing this, I get all the same buttons but the button to busyout does not work. My guess is that I just copied the buttons but that the extension still needs to be added to the UCD group. Can someone confirm this or let me know how to add the extension to the UCD group? I have an NEAX 2000 IPS.

Thanks in advance.

This will help you setup the phone side. I gave you all of the info but you can see the portions that you need for the phone install only. The other portion should already be set since your UCD is working.

Basic PBX Programming.

Determine the System you have from the chart above and program ONLY the steps that show that symbol.
Symbol indicates the CM must be set regardless of the system type!

The above seems to be a little extreme for a UCD group, It is more suited to a Zeacom install! It is also missing Cmd 170 which is pretty critical! If it is just a basic UCD group, list it up with Cmd 173 then check which is the pilot number in Cmd 171. Add the new number to the group in Cmd 170 remembering that the group has to be circular so for example if you had 200 going to 201 and you wanted to insert 202 between them you would change 200 to go to 202 then set 202 to go to 201. Then duplicate the settings in commands 171 & 172 for any of the stations other than the pilot station and all should be fine!

Yea, sorry skipped right over that one. Good catch. He is just using the station portion. Everything else should already be setup and running. I just sent the additional info for his notes. He can sift through it and see what station commands he needs and check an exsisting phone or acd line with it and make the new one the same. Except for command 170 - 173 of course. Again great catch. That would have really pissed him off.

Don't sweat it, People seem to think I know what I'm talking about but I'm just a good Bulls#!tter. At least your replies are soundly based. I recently installed an AD8 (second hand) and I can't even get it to answer calls correctly (plays a snippet of the opening greeting or name recording then starts all over again!) I would post a question about it but I showed the customer this site and don't want him to spring me!

AD-8's are simple, old but simple, unless you start changing the Can greetings. I wonder if it is pointing to the correct opening greeting upon port answer??

I appreciate both your replies they are going to make good notes for later on.
One thing I am not sure I understand is the circular part. In fact I messed the whole group up. Now all the extensions in teh group can see calls coming in on their call waiting button but cannot busy in and out with the exception of one.
The original group was 7575, 8014, 8015, 8016 I tried to add 7576 and messed things up. Are there any good resources or could you further explain that portion? I do have the manuals for the system but they are just hard to understand. I am just an IT guy who got stuck with phone system maintenance just because I had some idea but had never really worked with NEC systems.

Thanks

Ok I jusr run command 173 and typed the first extension 7575 and this is what I get:
173>7575:END

Does that mean that is the only extension in the group? Somehow I think I removed the rest.

Thanks

In command 170 the circular should be as follows

Command 170

170>7575, 7576
170>7576, 8014
170> 8014, 8015
170> 8015, 8016
170> 8016, 7575

Awesome... I was able to fix my screwup following your directions. Unfortunatelly I still don't have the new extension working. Here is what is doing:

The extension has a Busyout button for the UCD group and it doesn't allow me to busyout
Also now it does receive calls going to the UCD group and it rings and I can see the call waiting button flash but I can't pick it up....

Any ideas on what I can be missing?

Thanks for all your help so far it has been invaluable on fixing what I messed up the other day and also on helping me understand how this works.

Nevermind... I figured this out by following the rest of your instructions... I just hadn't clicked yet. I forgot to use command 172 to add the new extension to te UCD group. I did this and now it works perfect.... Thanks a bunch for all your help and patience

No problem, Glad to help you..
