Hello. I am trying to setup my UCA Mobile Client for my iPAD. We have several executives that would like to use this method as their mobile device. So far, I have the client setup on the iPAD and the MCD is configured and added as part of my personal ring group. The application is loaded and synching with the UC server. Call history and all other information is there. The trouble is that when I attempt to place a call, the call fails. I have configured a generic SIP device. I have the appropriate number of licenses but when I select the call from UCA Mobile the call fails. I am using UC 5.0 as well. Any thoughts as to what I can check? Thanks!

Further clarification: We were under the impression that the UCA Mobile client configured on the iPAD would be able to initiate a call as a generic SIP device. I am able to initiate a call using my deskphone and mobile phone. In short, it behaves much like the UCA client loaded on my laptop. Provides status, call history, contacts etc. but requires that you choose a device from which to dial. Can anyone clarify? Do we need to add a softphone in conjunction with the ipad UCA Mobile client? Thank you!

Only UCA 5.1 has a built in SIP client that can be used to make telephone calls from an iPad or iTouch. You program up a generic SIP extension on the 3300 and then configure the SIP properites of the UCA client on your Apple device so it will act like a SIP extension off of the 3300. You need the appropriate UCA licenses. SIP license sharing in UCA allows one SIP extension to be used on multiple devices ( but only one at a time ).

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

Yes. I did some digging and found that we needed to upgrade. I just completed the upgrade to 5.1. on the UC Server and updated the client to 5.1 as well. I have configured the generic sip device on the 3300 and applied the settings to the iPAD UCA Mobile client. The UC Advanced for smart devices license we have as well as the softphone license. The only one we do not have is the UC Mobile SIP Softphone. Is that the one we need? Thanks Loopy Lou!

I just confirmed that is the license we need. Thanks!
