Have an issue where I have multiple controller syncronised to a single UCA server. The controllers are in various clusters though.

When I try dial a user in a different cluster, the PNI digits aren't inserted. Is there a way to do this.

I'm aware of the cluster restrictions but does this extend to dialling a person in another cluster as apposed to having problems with popups etc (as per engineering guide)

thanks

The nature of the PNI requires that it be dialed by the user.

The UCA extensions should be entered complete with their PNI's.

I know of no way to automatically insert the PNI.

PNI's are a legacy technology.
PNI's are generally used on a dpnss VPN where they have to traverse an exchange switch, where as the 3300 routes calls point to point via IP up to 999 systems.
Today in a large network enviroment I convert all extn numbers to include the PNI as standard, that way you can have unique numbering up to 7 digits and route it directly to the correct controller, this also gives the added advantage of having the number in the telephone directory so other applications including UCA are able to search and dial.

Clustering is the best method but may take some time to implement.

supernova,

system is clustered but it's a multicluster system, hence the PNI.
I've tried to implement the 'PNI' as part of the extension number but customer doesn't want to dial a 7 digit extension number for someone in the same building.

so it's gonna remain a multi cluster with PNI.
I'm sure there's gotta be someway to have the UCA server prefix the PNI number as it imports the contacts, maybe not today but going forward.

thanks for the replies

you can always speed call the 7 digits to 4 digits so they can still dial internally
You will just need to set a process that everytime you add a user you need to create a speed call

yeah tried that route with them but they don't want to. Unfortunately I explained the problem in too much detail, so they shot it down saying they don't want a 'patch workaround'
I should have just implemented and not said anything.....

good advise though

They need to dial PNI + Ext.

They don't want to do that, too bad so sad.

They could always pay you oodles of cash to merge the clusters I guess. Oh but at a guess, they wouldn't want to change their extension numbers.

Some customers we can all do without.

Snap KWB!

I've actually put forward a proposal to change it all to one cluster - they've not signed off on it.

anyway, thanks for the suggestions and advice here.
