hallo I installed Ubuntu on a Virtual Machine on my laptop. The host OS is WinXP Pro. The computer is an Acer TravelMate 3000 ZH1.

The problem is that I cannot set the right resolution when I am inside Ubuntu. When I enter the full-screen mode the Ubuntu desktop would just spread to fill the screen, causing an annoying loss of definition.

I think it might be a problem of drivers: I didn't install any driver for Ubuntu, but I don't know where to look for them. On Acer website they only provide drivers for Windows. Does someone have an idea? Thanks

I know vmware actually has driver packs so the guest OS is able to do these sorts of things.

What virtualization software are you running?

AdaHacker - Ubuntu is a bit tricky and the install instructions you point towards will not work correctly... JFYI...

Now you will probably say: but VMWare FUSION is a MAC program and I am using Windows... Still works... did similar with VMware 6.0.3 and 'Hardy Heron'...

PS: should work with the other flavors of Ubuntu aswell,

alternative: download a preinstalled VMWare Image but that will take out the fun in learning...
