I have the following settings in power management:

Actions - put computer to sleep when inactive for: never
Display - put display to sleep when inactive for: 40 minutes.

The problem is that once the display goes to sleep, it cannot be awoken. I have waited longer than 2 minutes for it to wake... so its not a matter of my impatience.

Kernel: 2.6.27-9-generic
Model: Dell Dimension E521
CPU: AMD64 x2 3600

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Sorry I haven't responded sooner... just hasn't happened again until this morning.

While I do appreciate the links, none of the tips there worked.

Ctrl + alt + f# or ctrl + alt + backspace doesn't do anything.
Shutting off the monitor for 5 minutes and turning it back on does nothing.

I am using the Nvidia accelerated graphics driver version 173. I had other probs with version 177... can't remember what they where now. I may try to switch to 177 in order to see if the problem still exists.

Any other thoughts or suggestions?
