/u directory has disappeared

/u directory has disappeared - i don't know why or when this occurred but i cannot locate /u anywhere. Hence, when any attempts to run scripts from here fail. I can run them from /home but I need to be able to recreate this directory and link to /home.
Anyone advise please...

Create a symlink to /home in the / dir:

ln -s /home /u
