I'm in the process of setting up a new box with SuSE Linux Enterprise 9. The system boots to KDE (3.2.1). The one problem I'm having is that I can't type quote marks ("). this makes using VI from a Konsole session interesting. :) I've tried other apps within KDE and can't type a " in them either.

Logging in a failsafe session gets me to a shell where I can type " marks. This leads me to believe that my problem is within KDE itself.

Is there a setting I'm missing?

Thanks,
Bob

It's a US keyboard.

In the XF86Config file I have the following..

Section "InputDevice"
Driver "Keyboard"
Identifier "Keyboard[0]"
Option "Protocol" "Standard"
Option "XkbLayout" "us"
Option "XkbModel" "pc104"
Option "XkbRules" "xfree86"
EndSection

The wierd thing is, I just installed SLES on another machine, and everything works fine. It's just this blasted IBM eServer I'm trying to install it on.

Thanks for your help.

Mhm.
I don't have a line Option "Protocol" "Standard", but an Option "CoreKeyboard".

But that's only a guess.

And "Keyboard[0]" is mentioned in Server Layout: Input Device?

Is $LANG, $LANGUAGE and $LC_ALL set correctly?
