We have been asked to look at SQL server performance of another server, and started monitoring the "\SQLServer:Buffer Manager\Buffer cache hit ratio" and the "\SQLServer:Cache Manager(_Total)\Cache Hit Ratio" counters. The first is around 99.xx. The second is around 65-68. The server supports users, but also runs jobs frequently which use a lot of stored procedures, DTS jobs etc to read tables and do updates. Can some other Tek-Tippers give a value for their two Cache Hit Ratio's or refer to a site, so we have something to compare ours with?
There are about 15 databases, all on a RAID5 array, transaction logs on another disk. We suspect some of the settings are less than perfect.
Thanks.
