Hi gang, I am considering obtaining an apple certification that certifies one as A Mac OS X system Specialist. Apple says that its good for people that want to offer Mac OS X help desk support to both consumer and companies. I'm interested but not sure how many companies may need this type of support. I live in LA California so there's allot of graphics and Audio companies using Macs I believe. I'm out of work and proficient with both OS 9 and OS X systems. I'm A+ certified on Pc's but I like Mac better and would rather get a job pertaining to Macs if possible. Anyone have any advice on weather or not such a certification is a worthy pursuit? If so, how could I find companies that use internal or out sourced Mac OS X help desk people?
Thanx for your anticipated advice.

As long as you can afford it. I'd go for it. My guess is that there are not that many people with such training. If you can burnish the resume with an additonal, and rare, skill it should help any prospects. If you look at government jobs, such certifications (or any piece of paper) help a lot.

I would guess that there is not much need for a "help" desk on mac, but that there is some need for qualified systems people both at the client and server level.

Thanks jmgalvin for your adivice. Tt helps allot.

Not sure of your area, but here in the DC/Baltimore area are many jobs for Mac certs for help desk for printing/design companies, as well as in-house stuff for some bigger companies - check computersjobs.com for your area to get a general overview.
