I just started using InDesign, and I'm having trouble creating type on a simple rainbow or curved path shape. What is the easiest way to do this?

First you have to make a path. You can use something like the ellipse frame tool for the curves.

Then select the text on path tool (hold down cursor of text tool to get the option). Place that where you want to start and put in the text. You can then make further adjustments using the text on path options from the type menu.

You have to get used to text on path, it can be frustrating at first. ID uses teh same methods as Illustrator, but without the filters avaliable in AI. You should search ID help for "text on path" and read up on all the possibilities.

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4
