should i run a culmulative incremental backup daily or should i run a differential incremental backup daily?
any advice?

thanks

Advantages to each. For the fastest recovery time, do Differentials. Because all you have to restore is the last full backup and then the last Differential backup.

For incrementals, you would have to restore from the last full backup and then from each incremental backup since that last full. Just takes more time to restore. Positive though is that you have less data per incremental backup than you would for the diffs. Viva la France!!

i understand whats differential and incremental backups,
but is "culmulative incremental backup" and "differential incremental backup" are both incremental backups?

Where are you getting your terminology? Webopedia?
Where do you set that type of job in Backup Exec?
(Hint: you can't)

What program are you using?

Good Luck! Viva la France!!

Hey, thanks for confirming. Never used Netbackup. I apologize. Check out the Veritas support knowledge base, they may have something.

Good luck!

you mean there is a difference between Backup Exec and netbackup?

BTW-Go to the TEK-TIPS search at the top of the page and make sure Find a Forum is selected. Enter NETBACKUP into the text box and select GO!. There is a forum for Veritas: Netbackup.
