In the visual basic editor, I could type ASCII code (0-127) by holding Alt key and typing in numbers, but I could not type character set (128-255) this way for characters that are supported by Windows.

For example, I typed ALT 174 and got «. But I was supposed to get ®.

Any advice?

Thanks in advance.

Why not simply use Chr$(174) ?

... or make sure you keep the zero:
