Two way trust and BDC's

I’m performing an NT4 Domain to 2003 Domain migration and I am in the process for migrating the users and data across to the new domain using ADMT and a two way trust.

My issue is, and the reason I’m posting in the NT4 forum, is that the NT4 PDC has starting freezing at various times in the day and the users are unable to access the data on the old domain. (No logon servers available)

I only have one WINS server that is running on the NT4 PDC.

Do trusts only talk to the PDC as we do have a BDC on the old domain? Could the problem be WINS has stopped working and I can get away with installing BDC as a WINS server? If not, if I promote the BDC will I need to recreate the trust?

I’m keep to spend time moving away from NT4 rather that investigating what is causing the freezing.

Can anyone advise?

Maybe work setting WINS up on the 2003 AD network and having a server set as a replication partner for the clients to use for name resolution.
