Two-Way DID 1

Have a customer being billed for 2 way, wink start, 4 digit DID (copper) trunks. Never heard of this. I have it working in a Magix on a DID card that is only incoming. Can someone enlighten me on what is 2 way DID Trunks, what cards or phone systems allow for outbound on DID copper trunks? The provider is Quest in Wyoming.

2 WAY DID ARE JUST THAT YOU CAN DIAL OUT ON THEM, THEY ACT JUST LIKE A NORMAL DID TRUNK INCOMING. BUT YOU CAN USE THEM TO CALL OUT IF THEY ARE NOT IN USE.
NORSTAR CAN PREFORM THIS FUCTION, NORMALLY WE SET THE TRUNK UP AS A TIE.
I HAVEN'T SEEN 2-WAY DID'S ON COPPER IN 20 YEARS THOUGH, ALL THE ONES WE HAVE IN MIAMI ARE T1 AND NORMALLY ISDN-PRI ALTHOUGH I HAVE SEEN SOON VENDORS (MCI-WORLCOM) FOR ONE THAT COULD SUPPLY THEM AS JUST A T1 NO PRI OLD ROLMEN WORKING ON NORTELS

Yes DID can be in only or in and out. They have been able to do this for some time now, it depends on how you order them. You can either get DID on it's own circut or have it come in with a T1 or PRI

I've always heard of in/out DID circuits referred to as DIOD circuits (Direct Inward/Outward Dial). Not all carriers provide them. Susan

Only CLEC's and ILEC's that have filed tariffs allowing 2 way DID trunks can offer the service.
There is no difference in programming as a E&M TIE trunk between two PBX's. Just pretend the CO is the far end PBX and set trunks for Bothway. Incoming or outgoing calls will still need the wink and distant end wink acknowledge to release digits and process calls. Really just a TIE trunk wrapped up in a different term. Jerry Pannell
