If we have two people trying to access the same table at the same time using forms, access will not allow this. How do I set it so people can access the same table, just not the same record(record locking)? THANKS

Go to the forms properties dialog. On the data tab there is a property called Record locking. Change it to "edited record.

Thanks, I will try it this afternoon. But if the default for that property is "no locks", why do you think it is locking?? THANKS FOR YOUR HELP

you know, I don't know. :)

I don't usually mess with this property because i work with access as a front end to SQL Server. Let me know if it doesn't work - I can't think of anything else right-off hand that changes the property, but since i don't mess with it a lot, I could very well be missing something.

Hi Mack,

If I recall, when you open an Access DB there is a checkbox labeled "Open Exclusive" (or something like that).

Check or uncheck the box to solve your problem.

It worked very well for me (in addition to Belovedcej's idea about record locking). I had a DB that a coworker and I used, together, all day long. As I recall, the edited record only saved the last saved edit.

Good luck!
Don

(er, did I just "HiMack" another thread?) [smile]

Thanks for the tip MallardVHS!
