The organization I work for is preparing to implement Windows 2000/Exchange 2000. I am being told I have to run our Windows 2000 Server and Exchange 2000 Server on the same piece of hardware, and I remember from my previous dealings with MS Exchange, that this type of setup did not work well.
The server they are recommending running everything on is a Dell 440 with 2 833 MHz CPUs, 1 GB RAM, 34 GB HDD (RAID 5). This server will also be providing file and print services as well as OWA to approximately 60 users.
The users are primarily connected to the server via 56 K - 128K frame relay connections. Only traveling managers and field staff will be using OWA.
Can W2K and E2K be run on the same server without either side taking a performance hit? What should I be looking for once this is implemented to determine whether or not an additional server is needed?
Thanks in advance for your assistance, and if you need any additonal information, please do not hestiate to contact me.
