I have two servers on two seperate networks, and i need to implement a solution that will save money - possibly by purchasing a seperate server and having the two backup to that one.

Would this be possible? The servers are sat next to each other. Could i implement a peer to peer connection between the two on a seperate Ethernet interface on each of them, or would i have to route the data via the internet through a L2TP tunnel or something.

A few more questions- Can i use Microsoft Backup to backup the exchange mailboxes i have so i dont have to buy the exchange agent? What are the advantages /disadvantages of this? Do i have to buy the software(backup exec) for both servers?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

If there are two seperate network and you purchasing another machine to perform the backups why not put another NIC in all three server. Connect them to a hub/switch and back them up thru a seprate subnet?

Microsoft Backup will only backup the information store not mailboxes.
You wont be able to backup anything exchange if you dont purchase the exchange agent for Backup Exec
