Hi there, I have a question on routing. I have 2 servers both running terminal services, sitting behind a nat firewall, so they both have internal addresses. I have ordered two IP addresses for my ISP, and would like to forward 1 external IP address to Server A and the 2nd external IP routed to Server B. How is this done? Is this the correct methodology for setting this up or is there some other method?

Thanks very much for any assistance.

Dave

Does your NAT firewall allow for 1-1 NAT? Whereby 1 external IP is mapped to 1 internal IP? If not, your going to need a switch, and 2 NAT routers to accomplish what you want to do.

Hi Serb,

I need to check on the routers. However, could i not set them up as some form of static route? which i think nearly all routers have such functionality.

cheers,
dave

static routes are not what you are looking for.

go ahead and give us the make and model of your routers and firewalls which will be in front of this machine.

Hi Lloyd, cheers for your help, the routers are zyxel 650.

Thanks very much.

NAT is done very easily with our Watchguard firewall. We basically use the router just to hook up to our ISP in a classless set-up and all the routing and NAT'ing is handled at the firewall.

Good luck.

I had a look at the Zyxel 650 user manual, and indeed it DOES support 1-1 NAT. Have a look at your user manual for details on how to set it up.

Serb, thank you very much, i shall look into it immediately.
