Two ports on FLT8 card no longer answering incoming calls.

The system is an Octel 250 connected to a Centrex system not a PBX and after the system was rebooted we noticed that 2 of the 8 ports in the system were no longer answering calls.
Callers just keep hearing ringing with no answer.
There are no error lights on and we tried re-booting the system again after downing it properly and powering it off and back on but the problem remains.

I’ve looked at the port configurations and have tried to disable the two ports but no change.
The calls come in via an 8-line hunt group and each port answers in succession and when it gets to port D and port F you can see the call come in on the FLT8 card’s LED’s but no answer. The next call goes to port G and that one answers fine.

The port assignments for ports D & F are as follows:

Port D
I=Y, O=Y, T=Y, M=N, N=N, P=Y, F=N, LnTp=52, PtGp=1

Port F
I=Y, O=N, T=Y, M=N, N=N, P=N, F=N, LnTp=52, PtGp=1

I can’t find any documentation on this card and what each column means.
I can only assume I=In and O=Out but not sure about rest.

I’ve tried to set both these ports to all N’s but the calls still try to go to these 2 ports and ring with no answer.

Can someone point me in the right direction as to get these 2 ports to answer again or disable them so the calls do not go to these 2 ports.

Thanks
Ed

Ed,

It sounds like those 2 ports are shot. You can try to disable the ports by putting the letter "O" in the "I" column, but if those ports are dead on the card it probably won't work. You're going to have to get the card replaced, or have the CO busy out the 2 numbers that are associated with those ports in the multi-line hunt group.

for fun try swapping the lines (from Telco) to known working ports, just in case those two lines are the problem, unlikely but worth a shot. one thing though, since they will not match the SMDI message when you call them they wil take three rings to answer

When the call is ring the port do you see the yellow light go on and off ?

Thanks all for posting.
I had already tried swapping the telco lines to see if it was the lines or the card.
After I swapped the lines the problem didn't move it was the same two ports on the card so it is not the telco lines.

Also when I do call the lines I do see the yellow port light flash on and off so it is reaching the port but the port does not answer and the 2nd light on the port which should go green when the port picks up the call is not lit and I never see it lighting so it would seem like it is the card and it is just not picking up on those two ports.

Seems more and more likely I have a bad FLT-8 card.

Yes i would say replace the FLT but you may want to make sure thet the cable is all the way on the FLT card

Ken,
Your last post got me to thinking that I had not tried the most basic thing before I go out and spend money on a new card.
So I shut the system down and powered it off once again this time removing and reseating the FLT-8 card and the cable that attaches to it.
There didn't seem anything wrong with the board when I had it out, nothing visibly noticeable.

I made sure everything was reseated nice and tight and powered the system back on and re-ran the port tests.

All the ports came back up.

Sometimes ya just gotta have someone say did ya check the obvious to remind you of the obvious.

Thanks again for all the responses
