I have an IBM server with a Broadcom BCM5708C NIC. The switch that it is plugged into is detecting two MAC addresses from the server. I am not doing NIC teaming and do not know where the second MAC is coming from. Any Ideas? Thanks

What Extreme Networks switch are you using? ExtemeXOS based operating system or older ExtremeWare operating system.

Can you post the output from "show fdb port 1" where "1" is the port number connecting to your server. A couple of things to consider, but let's start with the obvious.

If your server is running any virtual machines e.g. VMware or VMware player you could be getting differnt MAC addresses.

Are the Organizational Unit Identifiers (OUIs) for the two MAC addresses identical or distinct (That's the first 3 sets of Hexadecimal pairs).

For example:
00:3B:1A:00:00:01
00:3B:1A:00:00:02

The two MACs above have same OUI therefore from same manufacturer.

Post your FDB output on the port and we'll take it from there.
