Is there a way to connect two exchange servers (2007 & 2003) that are on two seperate domains but are on the same network. ie Exchange 07 @ 172.16.17.49 & Exchange 03 172.16.4.11

Sure... but what kind of connectivity do you want? There's a broad spectrum, between pingability at the low end and full mail routing at the high end.

You probably just want to create some custom routing connectors between them so that one of them could receive and process inbound email for both servers and then forward appropriate mail to the other server. Or you could use routing groups to create redundancy, although if you only have a single internet connection, your point of failure is most likely to be right there.

The way we currently have it is email comes into a SPAM filter and then sends messages to either server. The problem is when one domain tries to send to the second domain it seems to get lost. I have added the second domain MX record in our DNS. Sometimes the mail makes it most of the tme it does not.
