1...
I have an Excel file on an NT network that is marked read only.
When the owner of the file opens it...it is not read only.

If we save it to another folder on the file server...under another name,
it is still read only when I open it.

Anyone know why?

On this same file center and merge seems to be happening on certain
cells, even though I am not asking it to. [sig][/sig]

1. When you do a SaveAs you need to hit the Options button and remove the ReadOnly property. [sig][/sig]

The file is NOT tagged read only.
This even happens when you create a new file in the folder. [sig][/sig]

Are NT permissions assigned to the file?
Is it on an NTFS partition?

Maybe your problem is not rights from Excel, but from NT? [sig][/sig]
