Hi Folks,

I kind of new to this, so I beg for patience if my ideas are completelly flawed from the inception :).

Here is the scenario:

- Five clients using the same ADSL line to remote access files server and application server from a different office.
- Performance is sluggish
- Is there a way to increase the performance of this setup by adding a second ADSL line?
- If that is possible how the load balance would be handled? By a specific DSL router (one with multi input line capability, i'm not talking about a CISCO or anything that complex or expensive) or would I have to have two independent routers connected to a server with two cards with a load balance configuration (does this work at all?)

Thank you in advance for your thoughts.

1) Dual WAN routers exist, usually under $500

etc.

2) a single, faster, DSL circuit would outperform a Dual WAN.

3) if you do Dual WAN, consider making one a Cable Modem, so not all the service will go out at once in disasters.

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

Thx, Jim.

your problem probably lies more in the type od DSL you are using. Your upstream is slow and your downstream is faster. You are trying to use a residential product to solve a business issue.

You should really have an SDSL connection with similiar upstream and downstream issues.

What the current specs of your ADSL connection?

Perhaps you should look into a screen scraper connection for these clients (Terminal Services or Citrix) to minimize the bandwidth usage.

It is what it is!!

If SDSL is not an option, go to the DSL FAQ on dslreports.com to try and optimize your connection.

computerhighguy,

Thanks. They are going to try SDSL. I'll check the dslreports.com site anyway.

Thx again.
