I've learned alot about CR in the past few months(working with it almost everyday). But my mind is coming up blank on this one. I'm using CR 10 and MSSQL 2000.
I have my report and i need TWO details sections. One in the middle of the letter and one at the bottom (so it can be cut off). I've gotten it working fine with the middle section but cannot seem to get it to appear at the bottom also, I've tried subreports and using a 2nd details and "Print at bottom of page" but that left lots and lots of blank space - any ideas? thanks much.

You've ruled out some of the obvious suggestions. Please give more information about your report structure, with some sample data, and then explain why your attempts with subreports and printing the detail section at the bottom of the page didn't work. For example, what is supposed to fill the blank space you are objecting to? Can't really tell what the problem is from your description so far...

lbass,
Its basically a letter that gets mailed telling someone what they owe us - and there can me multiple line items:

Name Price Total
Item 1 $20 $20
Item 2 $10 $30

I need that list at the top and bottom of the letter, which a bunch of wording between.

Report Header - blank/supressed
Page header - I have the address & salutation
Group Header = "Name Price Total"
Details - #1 #2 #3
Group Footer - Rest of letter

With the subreport it seemed to not link the item data to the customer data and pulled up all the items in the table. Its probably something I am doing, but was looking for suggestions, thanks.

I would insert a group footer_b where you will place the subreport containing the detail fields. I'm assuming the group is on something like {table.customerID}. You would link the subreport to the main report on {table.customerID}, so that the data in the subreport is limited to that customer. Then go to the section expert in the main report, and check "Print at Bottom of Page" for the group footer_b section.
