Guys,

This customer has got two CXis with standalone MCDs. They have asked us to link the two PBXs (in different cities) using SIP Trunks. They can't afford converting the software to Enterprise MCD.

Customer primarly wants to link the PBXs for basic telephony between the sites.

Questions:

1. They plan to use VPNs with Watchguard firewalls, do this firewalls know how to handle SIP?
2. Do they require DSP IIs at every site in order to compress to 729?
3. Do they require 8-compression license at every site?
4. Will this work? Will people e able to transfer calls, etc, etc?
5. Is there a How-to-do guide on MOL for this configuration?

Regards,

Daniel

Compression is only required on a system for calls that LAND/ORIGINATE on the system, these include (but may not be limited to) MOH, conferences, Paging, embedded voicemail and any analog/digital trunks or devices on the system.

So how many licenses (if any) you require are based on how often you use those features.

IP sets talking to one another, even through a SIP or IP trunk, do not require a system compression license, these are covered by the phones themselves.

I think you should start here, most of what you need to know is in there. Any questions, just ask.
