Okay, here is my problem. I know what I want to do, and I know its possible, but I don't know what equipment I need, or how to go about setting it up.

I work as *basic* computer support at a small company. We have a 100 Mbps (fast ethernet) connection through a Domain ...

Occasionally, one of our reps will send in a laptop which needs repair or a new program installed. However, I only have one network port at my workstation, so in order for me to work on a laptop, I have to stop all other work, unplug my desktop, plug into the laptop ... etc, etc (you get the idea.)

What I want to do is add a (hub? splitter? wired router? switch?) so that I can have both computers plugged in at once. But I have no idea where to begin or what equipment I need.

Any advice? Thanks in advance!
