Two beeps at Post

I have a Gateway solo laptop. It has a broken lcd monitor(somebody stepped on it).

Sometimes it will pass by post and display the Windows ME logo. However, it stops there so the Operating system must be corrupted. Sometimes, it would have the two beeps it shuts off by itself (hangs-no activity).

So I tried to fix it. I was able to reinstall Windows ME.
After installtion, W-ME says to shut off the computer and restart again.

Here's the problem. Now, the laptop always have the two beeps and hangs. I tried to put in the rescue floppy but it seems the laptop doesn't get out off POST. No video messages are being seen from the start.

(Probably the reinstalled W-me is now seeing the broken LCD. Thus the 2 beeps and the hanging.)

I'm out of ideas. Any ideas is greatly appreciated.

I also attached a regular monitor at the back of the laptop.
No activity on this monitor too.

I always thought that two beeps accompanied an error message on screen, but I think it is also a sign of memory problems.

It would seem a bit cruel to have a cracked screen and RAM probs, so the cracked screen is favourite, possibly involving the video side of things.
