Hi
It 's me again, with another question, on Meridian Mail :

Is it possible to have 2 messages for a mail box.
For exemple, if the called number is busy, or if it's non responding, I want that the annoucment to be different :
- busy = "I'm on line, please re call me in fex minutes"
- absent = "I'm not here, please let me a message"

Is it possible ? And how ?

Thanks you very much

Julien

There are 3 different greetings for Meridian Mail, however it won't do what you are looking for. You can have an external greeting, an internal greeting, and a temporary greeting that overrides all of the other greetings.

Recording your Personal Greeting:
Your Personal Greeting is very important; as it can be the first contact people have with your or your department. Your greeting should let the caller know who they have reached, what your status is (out of the office, in the office but in meetings, etc.), when the caller can expect to receive a call back, and instructions on what to do if the call is urgent. The system does have a generic default greeting but recording your own greeting makes your voicemail more personal to the caller. See Sample Greetings for suggested formats.
There are three levels of Personal Greetings available for you to use.
· Callers from outside Williams-Sonoma hear your External Greeting.
· Callers within Williams-Sonoma hear your Internal Greeting.
· All callers hear your Temporary Absence Greeting, if you record one. The Temporary Absence Greeting (TAG) is used in situations where your normal working routine will be interrupted for a period of time (i.e. vacation, business trips, etc.). The TAG temporarily overrides your existing external and internal greetings while you are away from your office. You control the expiration date and time for the TAG so your normal internal/external greetings are restored on the date and time you select.

Sample Voice Mail Greetings
Your greeting is very important; as it can be the first contact people have with you or your department.
Your greeting should let the caller know who they have reached, what your status is (out of the office, in the office but in meetings, etc), when the caller can expect to receive a call back, and instructions on what to do if the call is urgent. If you have set up a Custom Operator, you can direct your callers who need to speak to someone immediately, to "Press 0" to be connected to one of your assistants or colleagues.
Another way to make sure that your callers are informed while you are out of the office is to use a Temporary Absence Greeting. For example, if you are going to be out of town on vacation for a week, you can record a Temporary Absence Greeting informing callers that you will be unable to return their call until you return from vacation.
Here are a few sample voice mail greetings:
Internal/External:
· Hello, this is (your name). I'm in today but unable to take your call now. But if you leave your name, number and a detailed message after the tone, I'll return your call as soon as possible. If you require personal assistance during regular business hours, please press 0. Thank you.
· This is (your name). Thank you for calling. I am unable to take your call at this time. Please leave a message after the tone and I will return your call as soon as I can. If you need immediate assistance, press 0 to reach my secretary. Thank you.
Temporary Absence Greeting
· Hello, this is (your name). I'm away from my desk right now. I can be reached in the 5th floor meeting room, extension XXXX if it is urgent, or leave a message after the tone and I'll call you as soon as possible.
· Hello, this is (your name). I'm out of the office today but will be checking for messages. Please leave your name, number and a detailed message after the tone. I'll return your call as soon as possible.
· This is (your name). I'm out of town today but if you need to call me I can be reached at XXX-XXXX before noon and at XXX-XXXX after 1 p.m., until 4 p.m. If it is not urgent, leave a message and I will call you tomorrow when I return.
· Hello, this is (your name). I'm on vacation for 2 weeks and will be returning on August 27. Please call XXXX in my absence and (their name) will be pleased to help you.

IF YOUR BUSY YOU CAN NOT RECORD A MESSAGE INDICATING SUCH, IT'S A CAN MESSAGE SAYING THAT THE LINE IS BUSY.

Ok

I have two more questions :
What is a "CAN MESSAGE", as perrypj said ?

Is it possible to redirect the call on a specific extension when 0 is pressed ??

A Canned message is the default message if you have not recorded your own message yet. It says something to the effect of:

The person at extension XXXX is not available to take your call. Please leave a message after the tone.

And for your second question, yes, you can redirect where the call goes if the caller hits 0. It's called the Revert DN. The system default is the Operator, but you can set it in Meridian Mail on the terminal, or you can dial into your voicemail box and program it there as well remotely.

very confusing guys
If a call from a busy extn arrives at a voice mail box, MMail plays the Personal Verification. If the owner has recorded their PV, say their name, the caller will hear "Joe Bloggs is on the phone". If they haven't recorded their PV, the caller hears "the person at extn xxxx is on the phone". The caller then hears the external/internal greeting, depending the call source.
If a call from a forward no answer extn arrives at a voice mail box, MMail plays the external/internal greeting, depending the call source.
The trick is making all this flow together nicely.

wdhb, are you sure ?

if it s yes, it is a very good news for me !!!

cross my heart - why don't you test it - gives you peace of mind
