The last time I had to twin a cell was couple of years back and I used Dynamic Extension licensing.

What do you guys recommend now, EHDU or Multi-Device Groups?

Customer just wants the ability to have cell ring with desk IP endpoint and perform handoff's both ways.

If you already have multi-device licensing then EHDU can be programmed without any additional cost.

There are limits to the functionality of a multi-device phone that may impact your decision.

If you do not already have MDU licenses, then I recommend buying the EHDU license. (Dynamic Extension)

I have looked at both and as kwbMitel says Dynamic Extension is still the better solution.

I agree
PRG with EHDU extension in it is less confusing and more functional than MDU(just costs more)

if the user can cope with 1 busy all busy and unable to use deskphone if twinned call is in place then MDU is ok

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

From a functional point the PRG with EHDU is the best but in a lot of deployments the Multi-dvice is all the customer needs. Also as we all know for many customers price is the determining factor in what they buy.

So if you want a lot of devices in a ring group type enviroment then the multidevice is the way to go. For example if you have multiple devices ( i.e you have a desk phone and a UCA softphone and a cell phone and maybe a extension on another cluster element ) then it is way cheaper to buy a multi-device license ( 8 members )rather then a user license for the phone and for the softphone and two EHDU licenses for the cell and remote extension.

The other point is that with Mitel introducing this UCC licensing where the customer gets a teleworker, Nupoint, UCA softphone and UCA mobile all lumped into a single bundle, then you are going to see the multi-device more often whether you want it or not ( only the basic package has PRG ).

The beatings will continue until morale improves.

Agree with loopylou on all points.

To reiterate my original statement for clarity.

If you already have multi-device licensing on your system then stick with this method and EHDU can be programmed without any additional cost.

If you do not currently employ Multi-device licensing, then don't start now and instead buy the dynamic license.
