I just upgraded one of my clients from 9.1 to 11.0.4. They currently have about 30 employees that rotate one day in office and one day from home. Ive had the IX workplace conversation with them but they are content with twinning for now.

Previously, these 30 ish users had twinning buttons programmed on their phone and I had set an 8 to 5 twinning time profile to make sure they dont get calls outside of business hours. It worked well and they were happy with how it was working.

Now, on 11.0, they are running into an issue. You can not turn your twinning on outside of the time profile. They have some employees that work a bit late and when they go to leave at 6pm they want to turn their twinning on. However, the button on their phone shows up as feature denied.

Is there anyway around this? They still want the time profile setup so they dont get calls outside of hours but they do want to be able activate it outside of hours. Short term they will just leave twinning on all the time.

At a quick guess you could try time profile latch override function.
It’s located in the time profile.

But they will need a button to activate this first then activate mobile twinning

Worth a shot if no one else has other ideas.

So if they don’t want calls why activate it ?.
Maybe I misunderstand that bit.

Thanks for the reply Snowman, I the latch active and inactive feature seemed to allow me to set twinning on out side of their time profiles. Maybe I was tired when I looked at it but I couldn't follow the logic of the latch active and inactive. Could you explain how they work in your understanding?

and to respond to your question,
time profile is 8 to 5. However, they work only every other day in office. So, one day, employee John Smith works a few hours late and is leaving at 7 pm. That being said, he will need to get calls tomorrow while working remote. So, he wants to set twinning on so that he can get calls tomorrow.

I suggest to take the time profile out for the people that need the flexibility and set up FNE access for them. Then they call in and activate or deactivate the twinning manually.

I setup a shortcode for myself with *890 for off (*TW) or *891 for ON after dialing the FNE number

Another option would be to set up web-based self management. Users can log into the IPO through Chrome/Firefox/whatever and enable twinning there. Works outside of the time profile. You can also lock down what they have access to and they can enable/disable remotely as well assuming that the users are running a VPN into the office for their data connection anyway.
