I don't even know if it's possible for them to function together, but here's the setup:
-Two towers of 7 Plextor UltrapleX-40Max drives connect via SCSI to two Adaptec AVA-2906 PCI SCSI cards in a Windows 2000 Server (fully patched, SP3)
-The SCSI cards are functioning fine in the towers. The Plextor drives are fine and the cables are fine, but only one tower works at a time, meaning only one tower is recognized by windows. Win2k simply shows the drives in My Computer as normal drive letters, and it somehow knows to name them all differently. For example, if I switch the second tower to the first AVA-2906 card and reboot, drives L-R appear, and F-K (one the first tower) are gone, although it's connected to the second AVA-2906 card. How does Win2k know to name the drives like this, especially when the drives and jumper settings are the same? I would really like to get all 14 drives functioning at once!
Thanks!
Scott
