Let me start by saying I have read the install manual as well as many many posts in the forums. This is my first voicemail and I want to get it right 1st time on site.

This is a home installation and we want the voicemail to essencially act like an answering machine with a brief message then let the caller leave their message. most important will be that we can check these messages from off site. Nice features would be live call screening from the main phone at extension 100.

I think I want DPT integration and VPS service for ports.
Flexible Ringing Assignment and Delayed Ringing Assignment to make the voicemail pick up after 4 rings.

I do not understand how to designate which mailbox callers will end up in and how that ties to extension 100.

Am I on track here? anyone willing to short hand what I need for my answering machine setup?

Thanks

here is a bit of help getting the 2 talking
KX-TA
Program what jacks are connected to the KX-TVP - Step 130 – Jack 7/8
- Step 131 – Jack 15/16
If new installation of both KX-TA and KX-TVP set time on KX-TA – Step 000....
If jacks need renumbering to allow for jacks used by KX-TVP – Step 009....
Prevent line ringing following Call Forward to Mailbox – Step 963 – Set AllJacks to Disable
4. Connect PBX Jacks to KX -TVP Ports – KX-TD DPITS .
- KX-TA APITS– .
5. Set the Dip Switch on KX-TVP to Autoconfigure every extension a
mailbox and sets all ports to Auto Attendant mode using Custom Service

Power down KX-TVP.

Move switches to
sw 1 left
sw 2 right
sw 3 left
sw 4 right
(or sw 4 left will set the time & date from the pbx
Power up KX-TVP.
To test Autoconfiguration go to any extension on the KX-TA and dial
voicemail extension number On KX-TA the
extension number for that jack it is pluged into If Autoconfiguration has been successfully set up you should directly
access your mailbox and be greeted with “You have zero new
messages…”

if auto config works reset all switches to the left before you do anything else

if you could let me know if you have pc connected to the v/m or are you intend doing this setup with the phone would help

great a lot better for setup

these are the settings for the com port

COM port #1 to 9600 vol, 8 bits, 1 stop bit and parity is MARK

The "LN Code" should also be: CR+LF

if you have procom great if not use hyperterm
setup the pbx as above plug into v/m
leave the switches on the v/m in default an then
reboot (powerdown ) the v/m ...you should see the v/m output on your laptop when you restart
use the quick setup menu to setup this will setup all the mailbokex for you ...you have to decide which setup you would like and set the ports to this Ie v/m or custom menu
if you have read this & desided get back to me if you could get access to the v/m before the install you could have a good look at the menu (no surprises) on site

in hyper terminal it is 9600,n,8,1 no flow control
db9 to db9 and null modem adapter you try to connect with
mark (you are thinking of the values for the TD Riv)you wont
talk.

well spotted cwc3
must be getting tired ...long day

thanks for the posts. I will be on site tommorrow to get this thing going.

Rivet I notice you have me setting all ports to auto attendant and giving each user a mailbox.

is this in combinatiion with cwc3's intercept routing tip? remember I want the effect of 1 mailbox for the whole system (like an answering machine would be set up in a home). I thought I would want VPS servie on all ports?

no dont setup all ports to custom... as above...
use the quick setup menu to setup this will setup all the mailbokex for you ...you have to decide which setup you would like and set the ports to this Ie v/m or custom menu ....if you dont want the extra mailboxes you can delete them or leave them there just dont fwd your exts to them
if you dont use the quick setup you will have to setup all aspects of the mailbox (ie) class of service timers sizes ect,ect much easier to quick setup and delete unused

then use above recomendations from cwc3 to point the call to the mailbox after the timer expires...
