I have a TI4200.
The TV out works just fine (S-video), but as soon as I play a AVI, MPEG or DVD file on the PC, the TV displays nothing in the box (where there is suppose to be a movie)
The complete desktop is on the TV, but the box is empty (black). Games, still pictures all display ok

I had a MX440 before in my PC before this and it worked fine.

I think you find that you have come across pirating protection.

There is software on the DVD preventing it being sent in analogue form so that it can't be copied on a Video.

Go into display properties, settings, advanced, and then the Nvidia card's tab. If you're using more up to date drivers (4x.xx+) a panel to the left of the display properties will come out.

Choose the nView Display Mode. Below the sample pictures choose the TV nView Display and make it the primary display. What this does is fool the movie into playing on the TV and stopping it from playing on your computer monitor. You can still control it fine from the computer though.

khorin hit the nail on the head.....video only displays on primary screen not secondary......the copyright issue only happens if you are using dvi...otherwise you would not be able to play a dvd on a dvd drive. if the signal being analogue was the prob you would not be able to use a plain jane video cable to connect your dvd player to your tv(some dvd players only have s-video and dvi or composite like mine )

the only right answer to "why?" is: "why not?"

If that doesn't work for some reason, try simply checking that the video overlays are properly working with your card, as that can cause this behavior too even when hooked up to a monitor. To check that, just go into WMP's settings and turn off all video accelleration.

When it's overlays not working, reinstalling the video card drivers usually fixes the problem.

i was wondering if anyone can tell me how to connect the pc to tv. ive search the internet and it keeps on saying something about "nView Display Mode" but i cant find it in my display properties. i have the latest drivers.
thanks in advance
