Even though most of the exercises are for Photoshop 5 & 6, this is an excellent online tutorial if you're starting out from scratch. I'm doing the lessons now for the basics of photoshop even though I have Photoshop CS.

click Tips & Techniques > scroll down and check out "Animatic Maker"...for CS only but impressive.
(you will need to download Quicktime)

also click "more tips" to see many informative tips & techniques movies.

Movies are much easier to follow then text
