I am probably going to be pummeled after my 48 thread post on remote forwarding, but am going to ask one final question on this merlin legend system and then I promise I will stop.

Can a person call into the system from a remote location (outside line)and turn on/off the remote call forwarding on an ext?

Thanks!

Yes, it can be done, but it requires use of the Remote Access Feature.

REMOTE ACCESS is a rather "DANGEROUS" feature, but not very dangerous.

With remote access, you can have a trunk set up as a DEDICATED (for use anytime) or SHARED (for use when night service is activated).

The reason remote access is somewhat dangerous, is that outside users can ACCESS your system and do things like make calls on your lines and other not so nice stuff.

However, it is VERY WELL (PASSWORD) PROTECTED and "hacking" it is almost impossible.

Once you get REMOTE ACCESS SETUP IT WOULD BE USED LIKE THIS (Assuming an OUTSIDE NUMBER IS THE FORWARDING DESTINATION):

When the REMOTE ACCESS Trunk is accessed (dialed, and the proper Password provided) you will receive SYSTEM dialtone, you can then dial *33, the forwarding extension number, then 9, then the destination number. and then the POUND SIGN.
