and don't forget to program a MEW function key on your DTS offcourse.

I suppose the DTS displays "message waiting" on the LCD display for the moment...

From Alex ( STX 06/07 turn on/off the message w. ):

2.1.5.6 The PABX can receive the following signals from the voice mail system when standard, extended, extended level 2, or extended level 3 function is used:

STX 02 CR LF
This is an acknowledgement message - sent in reply to STX 54 CR LF - which means that the voice mail system is ready to update the message waiting information of the PABX by sending a number of STX 06 for the extensions concerned. STX 02 can also be received spontaneously if the voice mail system requests updating.

STX 03 CR LF
Updating completed (see STX 02).

STX 04 CR LF
Request from an external information system to start a PABX ordered update of message diversion/message waiting missions. This request enables the PABX to remove all message diversion/message waiting missions before updating the PABX from the external information system.

STX 06 T SS CR LF
Indicate that extension T has a message waiting for him/her in message system SS.

STX 07 T SS CR LF
Erase the message waiting indication for extension T and message system SS.

STX 93 CR LF
Acknowledgement message (for Ethernet connection only)

The voice mail system informs the PABX that it has received the current message and it is ready to receive the next message.

2.1.5.7 The PABX can receive the following additional signals from the voice mail system when extended level 2 or 3 function is used:
STX 98 CR LF
Heartbeat check

The heartbeat check is sent periodically from the voice mail system.

STX 99 CR LF
Heartbeat response

The heartbeat response is sent from the PABX in response to heartbeat check signal.

Hold on guys...before you conclude anything here, What is the connection between MD and Avaya?

the connection is a serial connection

Hello telnettech

Can you post these printouts here?:
VMPOP;
VMFUP;
ICFUP;
CNPIP:UNIT=MWP;
BLFDP; for the LIM, where the ICU board is installed.

Normally, if you can't light up MEW lamp, the problem will be the voice mail server or the serial cable.
The voice mail server gives a signal to the PBX, that a new message has arrived in the users voice mail box.
This signal was described earlier:
"STX 06 T SS CR LF"
Indicate that extension T has a message waiting for him/her in message system SS.
If you -in some way- can activate an updating function from the voice mail(VM)server and unplug the serial cable and plug in in to a PC running a terminal program (e.g. Hyperterminal from Windows)you should be able to see the signal: "STX 06 T SS CR LF" (this will be shown as 061234505, if the ext. number is 12345 and the system ID of the VM server is 05).
If this signal is seen OK from the VM server then the VM server and serial cable must be OK.
If the VM server does not have the update option, most VM servers do an automatic update when powered on.
So you could check if signals for turning on the MEW lamps are present after the power-up.

The MD110 we can dicuss after you have posted the printouts.
A hint could be to send this: ICFUC:MWF=ALL;
and of course to have programmed MEW lamp keys.
KSFKC:DIR=,KEY=FCN=MEW;
///doktor

Try also to update from the MD110 by the command ICUPI;
Your ICUIND of the ICFUP should have acces to this updating function.
The updating function is activated bey ICFUC:ICUIND=, UPDFCN=YES;
The updating function will re-lite all necessary MEW lamps.

Not sure if this is fixed. If not, STUNI:LIM=X,UNIT=ILP; LIM=X is which LIM the voicemail is initiated. Clear the message in your test extension then start then start the trace then leave a new message in your test extension.
Copy & Paste the STRAP so I can see.

STISR;
STUNI:LIM=X,UNIT=ILP;
STTSS:TRI=1,SIZE=250;
STTSI:TRI=1;
STTSE:TRI=1;
STRAP:TRI=1;
