Afternoon all...

I've looked for it in Tools - Options but I can't seem to find a way to turn off the 'clicks' every time you click on a link on a webpage in IE.

Does anyone know how to disable this annoying little noise???

Many thanks in advance.

Dave S.

That is actually a sound wav which is used when navigating the web or browsing through Windows Explorer. You can stop that from happening by going to Control Panel->Sounds and Audio Devices->Sounds Tab.

You will see a box labeled Program Events. If you scroll down you should see a heading for Windows Explorer. The sound you are looking for is called "Start Navigation".

If you wish to remove that file all together you will need to go to C:\WINXP\Media folder and delete the file. That will stop it from playing.

In XP, Try:
Start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > "Sounds" tab

Scroll down to "Windows Explorer"...

Is the one labeled "Start Navigation" checked? If so, in the Sounds pull down select "None" and click Apply.

If that doesn't work, what OS are you on?
