How does one turn off the automatic linking feature in the Crystal Report 10 desktop so that CR does not try to automatically link new tables?

To turn off this feature you need to do this
To turn off Smart Linking you must change a value in the Windows Registry.

1. On the 'Start' menu, click 'Run'.

2. Type "regedit" in the 'Open' combo-box then click 'OK'. This opens the Registry Editor.

3. Browse to the following registry sub key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Crystal Decisions\10.0\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions

4. Right-click the 'DoAutoSmartLinking' string value then click 'Modify'.

5. Type 'No' in the 'Value data' text box then click 'OK'. Close the Registry Editor.

You can now create a report with multiple tables without automatically linking them.

good luck

If you're not allowed to fiddle with the Windows Registry, or don't feel confident about doing so, there is always the [Clear Links] button that lets you start from scratch.
