I have a flash intro that has a song in the background, but I don't have the uncompressed file so I can't add a stop sound button.

Is there a way to suppress all sounds from a page from playing, or even better, a button or script that would enable/disbale sounds upon clicking?

Nope.

The only way I think this *could* work is if there was a method to invoke the system "mute" behaviour.
However, even if that is possible to do from a browser (I don't think it should be!) then I would still resist using it.
Effecting things on your visitors systems is pretty intrusive and if it happened to me (as a visitor) I would not be best pleased.

As I was typing this, I had brainwave.
Create a controller movie that has a mute control in it and import the musical movie into that. I think that if you mute the controller movie then all sounds within it will stop.
Not tested, not sure - but it's worth a try.
