Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knew how to, or knew of a tutorial to show me how to turn a head on an image.

I have an image of a fish, thats looks like it is standing upright looking straight at you... on it's tail.

Now i have turned it so it laying on it's side. Then i cropped it's head, and turned that so the fish looks like he is in the right position to swim, but with it's head looking straight at you.

I would like to be able to turn it on it's axis, or change the perspective, so I can create the illusion that the fish is swimming, and looking in the direction it is swimming in...as eventually I would like to able to show it in a cartoon, moving left to right on the screen, ie as if it is swimming looking at the user, and then looking back to the way it is swimming.

any help would be great

yes i would like to see how this is done with a 2d program as well

Get a fish that looks similar, photograph it under similar lighting at all of the different angles and perspectives you have mentioned, frame-by-frame and BINGO! Fish animation!

Sorry, but I don't think Photoshop is capable of rotating a 2 dimensional object on a 3 dimensional axis.

I'm guessing that you are not an animator, so my first suggestion is probably a little difficult. You really need a 3-D program and an animation program to do the things you describe.

Good luck!

You can't rotate on a dimensional axis, but you can approximate that behaviour with the Free Transorm Tool using the Perspective setting.

Select your fish head layer and use CTRL+T (CMD+T mac) right click (CTRL+click mac) on the fish head and select Perspective. Play around with that to see if it meets your needs.

Hope it helps.

Wow JT that almost looked like you knew what you were doing!
