I Have an html webpage set up on our company website that serves as the firm's newsletter. It contains a header, text and graphics. Part of the text is in two columns.
We want to be able to make a hard copy of this page and I was thinking about using MS Word. If I copy the html document and rename the copy with extension .doc or if I paste the contents into a new MS word document I encounter some problems with formatting lines that don't have proper carriage returns. There might also be an end of file character somewhere in the html, as the document version ends part way through the page.
Also when the html document is printed the 2-column portion does not look right, as part of the first column will continue onto another page and then you have to go back to the prior page to begin reading column two.
Can Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher or some other program solve this problem, or would I have to re-engineer my html? Any other suggestions?
I have already looked at thread215-281338 "HTML to RTF Question".

Thanks for any help.

Does it have to be in MS Word format. If you are just saving them in hard copy for archival purposes, maybe you can go with converting them to PDF format instead.

BCL Technologies will convert HTML to PDF for you for free if it is under 500kb
I looked around for a good HTML to RTF converter program but didn't really find anything useful ):

Thanks for the idea, Moirakris, but I have to be able to edit the document and move blocks of text around to maintain the flow - I don't want to force readers of the hard copy to have to move back and forth between pages. If I can change the minds of the powers that be at my officeI will try the pdf idea!

Hello again. I need to ask your help about this problem again. Can anyone suggest a program that will make it easier to convert an html document into word, if not allow a direct conversion. I have to make sure that the paper version of our newsletter can be read entirely in a forward direction without having to (for example), read column 1 on page 2 and 3 then go back to page 2 to continue reading the article at the top of column 2 on page 2.

At the same time, is there an FAQ on this site for preferred html software, newsletter software or other software used for creating newsletters to go on the web?
Quark was highly recommended to me for a newsletter but I don't know how well it converts to an on-line product. One person told me that after designing the newsletter he converts it to pdf. Do other people here who design newsletters like Quark? Do any of you recommend converting the newsletter into pdf format? How are quark and acrobat for controlling the file size?

Thanks for any help
