How do I turn HTML on for the forums?
REH
hawkdogg@crosswinds.net
<a href= by Linux
Learn Linux and Leave out the Windows :)

Can you please be more specific? Do you mean in the Tek-Tips Forums or some other forums?
When Tek-Tips first started, you could type in any html and it would show right in your post. We ended up having some pranksters put ad banners (and other assorted stuff) right in their posts, and we figured out quick that we can't allow anything other than markup stuff in the posts themselves (you'd be amazed at what a stray
tag can do to the page). So html was turned off until we could offer just the markup stuff (such as bold, italic, bulleted lists and such).
One of the benefits of having html turned off is that, (especially in this forum) you can actually show html source code. Without that, any code you input would just be shown in the post and you'd have to view source and sort through the rest of the page to use it.

We are working on a markup system currently called "ttml" ( codename for tek-tips mark-up language) that will allow you to markup your posts and do things such as bold, italic, underline, Red Text and so on and so forth. Not all tags like this are implemented, but the general rule is, if you want to mark up your post, use the html (lower case only), and change the < and > to [ and ]... When the system is totally implemented, it will be made apparent, and there will be a help system for it.
Hope this helps.
