When I open a .doc it shows all the changes that everyone has made in red. I'd like the .doc to open without showing the changes. I went to Tools-Options-Edit and removed the check mark in "Keep Track of Formatting". The .doc still opens showing the changes.

Thanks

Hi,
On the View menu, bring up the Reviewing toolbar. Drop down the checkmark menu and select Accept All Changes.

Close the toolbar and save the document. That should solve your problem.

Just to be clear. Track Changes tracks changes. It is a toggle. If Track Changes is ON, then any changes are tracked. Turning tracked changes OFF does not remove any chnages it has already tracked. It simply turns OFF making any new ones. Once changes are tracked these are recorded in the document.

You can also open the Reviewing toolbar and Reject all changes (or individual ones).

In any case, do what you need to with the document, then turn OFF Track Changes. But either Accept, or Reject, the changes before turning Tracked Changes to OFF. Otherwise if they will still be visible as such in the document.
