How do I turn on compressio for my Quantum DLT1 in linux? I've tried toying around with mt, but I can't seem to find the right syntax.

Or maybe I did, and I don't know how to tell if its on...

Any help or info on the subject would be appreciated.

As far as I know the compressed version of devices are usually of the form /dev/rmt/0c (at least in Solaris, i have no experience of Linux), where the c indicates a version of the device with compression turned on is to be used. HTH.
