turn off system greating in partner mail

customer has partner mail stand alone rel 1.8 the system greeting plays before the message for the day menu I would like to turn this off

according to the manual this should only play if the touch tone gate is on the touch tone gate is off I have tried turning it both on and off but its still there

is there any way to turn this off ?

it gives me the option to use the defualt but if I do that then a caller from the outside hears "thank you for calling parner mail " before they hear the announcemt on either the day or night menu

Hi skip555,
Is there a fax extension programmed in the voicemail? If there is, the touch tone gate is on no matter what you do. It sounds like there is no greeting other than the factory one for the touch tone gate.
If you are using an ACS, put the fax in hunt group 8 and indentify it on the ACS. The ACS will detect the cng and transfer the call.

we can record a message in its just akward having to record two messages

the only thing I can think to do is to go in a defualt everything and build it back out

I seem to recall that until the release 2, that just the way it was. You had to record a short greeting like "Thank you for calling ABC company" seperatly from the main recording that would continue "If you know your party's extension...." etc.

It was weird, but you could sell your customer on the "feature" that they could use different system greetings when they made changes to the auto attendant. "Thank you for calling ABC company. Please listen carefully, as our extensions have changed..."

Anyway, I don't beleive that you can turn it off in your release.

I just checked my Partner Mail R1.8. When I turned off the touch tone gate the system still uses the "auto attendant greeting". In administration, option 7 then option 2 to record. I did this several months ago & forgot.
TouchToneTommy, you are right. No big deal, just record day and night versions of your intitial greeting. The big difference is that the system doesn't time out and send you to the general mailbox if you don't press "1".
