Turn off Router fuction?

We are having some trouble with accessing our 5.0 file server and I'm worried that its just our server being overloaded. We dont really need it to be a router since we have a cisco router right next to it....

2 questions

#1Are there any reasons I should keep the router function turned on?

and #2 How do I go about turning the router function off

There is no need to have the router function turned on as your network infrastructure should do all of the routing your network needs to do. I have noted that having routing turned on does increase the data throughput on the server up to as many as 10 times as much in the cases I have examined.

To switch routing off for TCP/IP, go into INETCFG, choose PROTOCOLS, then choose TCP/IP. Change the "IP PAcket Forwarding" option to "Disabled ("End Node")"

For IPX, go into INETCFG, PROTOCOLS, then choose IPX. Change the "Packet Forwarding" option to "Disabled".

I assume you don't use your netware box for Bordermanager for firewall or VPN
