Hello,
I run roaming profiles on the desktops and the laptops at our company.
I run it on the desktops so it backs up each time the log on/off. They dont use each others computers just thier own.

On the laptops the same thing, but when they are out on the road, it takes them foreeeever to start and shutdown because I assume its looking for the server to sync to.

I was wondering what is the easiest way to have it not sync when they are gone? I realize in AD for the users they have the backup script, i didnt know if i deleted that line then turned thier computer on and off before they went if that would rid the problem?

thanks!

Users should set their PC to "Work Offline" before the disconnect from the network.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Hey Mark, do you mean inside of Microsoft Outlook select "Work Offline" ?

And this will trigger it to not look at the exchange server for roaming profile sync on log on/log off?

No, they will have an option to work offline within Windows Explorer if they view the desktop.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Windows Explorer
Tools/Folder Options/Offline Files

Check "Enable Offline Files"
then uncheck "Synchronize all offline files when logging on"
and uncheck "Synchronize all offline files before logginf off"

Then uncheck "Enable Offline Files"

?Correct?

"Enable Offline Files" was unchecked by default..hmm

Yes, on my Vista laptop I also have a new button that says Work Offline. Not sure if XP get that or not.

I hope you find this post helpful.
